Substance Abuse Counselor Opportunity!
Location: Commerce, 90040
Schedule: M-F 8/5
Term: Termporary, 4-5 months
Pay range: $26-$29 BOE
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Social Services preferred.
- At least 2 years of current experience in a social services or behavioral health setting, preferably in substance abuse counseling or addiction treatment.
- Must be licensed, certified, or registered toward certification/licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor.
- Current BLS certification or higher through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese preferred, depending on location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and patient intake.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, measurable goals, and quarterly reviews.
- Provide individual and group counseling focused on substance use and recovery.
- Provide case management, including referrals, linkages, monitoring, coordination, and advocacy.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with County, State, and HIPAA requirements.
- Support patients and families through recovery planning and relapse-prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community agencies, courts, and correctional systems.
- Represent the organization at community meetings and maintain relationships with community service providers.
Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Behavioral health: 2 years (Preferred)
- current addiction counseling: 2 years (Required)
- Social Service agency: 2 years (Required)
