Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Safety Manager in Covington, GA. The Safety Manager will oversee the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans for a long-term industrial construction project in Covington, GA. This role requires a self-starting professional with extensive experience in electrical or heavy civil safety management and a deep understanding of OSHA excavation and trenching regulations.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $40 to $50 Per Hour BOE
Licenses/Certifications Required:
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
- OSHA 510 certification
- Confined Space certification
- LOTO certification
- CPR/1st Aid certification
- CHST or CSP preferred
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) to ensure project-wide compliance.
- Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits to identify and correct unsafe conditions or practices.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P (Excavations) and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing training for field crews, foremen, and subcontractors.
- Oversee competent person designations for excavation, trenching, and confined space entry per OSHA requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries to complete root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Monitor work procedures and safety documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete and accurate.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for construction safety operations and compliance monitoring.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of safety management experience in electrical, heavy civil, excavation, or site development construction.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically regarding excavation, trenching, and confined space entry.
- Proven ability to operate independently in a low-bureaucracy, self-starting culture without heavy micromanagement.
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation and conducting thorough root cause analyses.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for leading crew trainings and safety orientations.
- Ability to manage safety protocols for large-scale, long-term construction projects exceeding one year in duration.
- Ability to work 45-55 hours per week, including occasional Saturdays as project needs dictate.
- Must have professional references from past Electrical Project Managers.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to navigate and walk across uneven construction site terrain regularly.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders to inspect various levels of the jobsite.
- Regularly required to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, and bend during site audits.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and industrial construction environments.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers and safety inspection equipment.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $40 to $50 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
