Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status and identify medical issues.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following proper protocols and safety standards.
- Manage acute pain cases, perform suturing, and assist with procedures such as spinal taps or catheterizations when necessary.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters and medical records.
- Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to care and ensure continuity of treatment for remote or underserved populations.
- Educate patients on health management strategies, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care practices.
Requirements
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure with valid certification in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in primary care, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or specialized fields such as geriatrics or pediatrics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience with telehealth platforms is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including inpatient units like ICU or PICU; outpatient clinics; assisted living facilities; or nursing homes.
- Excellent patient communication skills with a focus on compassionate care for individuals of all ages—including children and seniors—and those with disabilities or complex medical needs.
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), Workers' Compensation law, HIPAA compliance, and utilization review processes is highly desirable.
