Duties
- Coordinate and process patient referrals efficiently across various healthcare providers and specialists
- Verify insurance coverage, obtain prior authorization, and manage insurance verification processes to ensure smooth service delivery
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems in accordance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve issues related to referrals, authorizations, and billing
- Utilize medical coding skills including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and ICD coding to support accurate billing and documentation
Skills
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to safeguard patient information
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms
- Experience with medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and ICD coding for accurate documentation and billing
- Familiarity with health insurance policies, managed care processes, insurance prior authorization procedures, and verification protocols
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally across diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes
- Understanding of medical office workflows combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently
