Job Description
Demonstrates knowledge of proper decontamination procedure 20%Demonstrates knowledge of proper decontamination procedure for instruments and equipment.•Receives, inventories and sorts soiled instruments. Determines proper method of decontamination for items processed. Cleans and lubricates instruments and equipment according to AMI standards. Loads, operates and unloads washer/decontaminator and ultrasonic washer according to manufacturer's instructions. Describes procedure to follow for equipment malfunction. •Operates autoclaves, ultrasonic washer, washer-sterilizer, and other equipment for processing supplies. •Performs routine maintenance of assigned area. Processes instrument sets for sterilization. 20%Processes instrument sets for sterilization• Inspects instruments for malfunctions, sharpness, proper alignment and cleanliness. Assembles instrument sets according to order of instrument count sheet. Uses appropriate chemical indicator in pan (steam or starred). Assembles instrument pans or container with appropriate filters, locks and bands. Label/dates instruments/supplies per policy. Loads sterilizers correctly to prevent wet packs. Prepares and packages individual items for sterilization, 20%Prepares and packages individual items for sterilization, choosing proper mode of sterilization.• Describes differences between steam and low temperature hydrogen plasma sterilization. Selects proper packaging for individual items. Labels items completely and correctly, I.e., name of item, initials, date of sterilization and load number. Utilizes good body mechanics when handling instrument trays and carts. Operates sterilizers and decontamination equipment according to manufactures' instructions. Operates mechanical, electrical & air powered equipment according to manufacturer's instructions. Removes malfunctioning equipment from service, tags, and reports. Reports positive cultures and recalls supplies per policy. 4%Completes documentation appropriately for quality control.• Completes instrument count sheets, initials. Charge capture 10%Charge capture• Enters daily chargeable items into SCHIS. • All entries will be within 24 hours of surgical procedure. • Maintain current pricing for implants and chargeable items. Anesthesia Set-Up 2%Anesthesia Set-Up• Anesthesia equipment will be set up for each patient as needed. • Anesthesia laryngoscope blades are cleaned after each patient use according to hospital policy. • Anesthesia equipment and stock is maintained and cleaned after each use. • Carts are cleaned and stocked after each use. Operating Rooms 2%Operating Rooms• Operating rooms are cleaned after each case. This includes empting trash and linen receptacles, mopping, and wiping equipment with a disinfectant. • Cleaning all patient equipment, and stocking as needed. • This is all performed using universal precautions and by using good body mechanics. The pay range for this position is $24.16 - $36.23. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
