DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS & GROWTH
LawnMore | Gainesville, FL 32608 | Full-Time | In Person
Pay: $55,000 – $65,000 base salary | Commission | Performance Bonuses | Bi-Annual Profit Share
ABOUT LAWNMORE
LawnMore has been serving Gainesville and the surrounding area for over 25 years. We are not just a lawn care company — we are a team built on purpose, on people, and on a standard of excellence we are proud of.
We believe work should mean something. We run our business with intention — with clear vision, real accountability, and a genuine investment in the people on our team. We want every team member to grow here, not just clock in and out. If you are someone who believes a workplace can be a real community and a business can operate with both profitability and integrity, you will fit right in.
Our three core values are not slogans — they are the standard we hire, develop, and hold one another to:
- Do the Right Thing — Honesty and integrity in every decision, even when no one is watching.
- Always Be Positive — Energy and optimism are contagious. We choose to lift people up.
- Excellence by Design — Good enough is never the goal. Every job and every interaction should reflect a standard we are proud of.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Director of Operations & Growth — the person who keeps LawnMore running smoothly and growing intentionally every single day.
This is not a task-manager position. This is a people-first leadership role with real ownership, real earning potential, and a seat at the leadership table.
You will work alongside our owner, office manager, shop manager, and landscape manager to keep every part of the business aligned and moving forward. You will lead and develop our crew leads and technicians. You will be in the field visiting job sites, building relationships in the community, and identifying opportunities to serve our clients better. You will lead weekly crew meetings and participate in our leadership team meetings where we set priorities, solve problems, and plan for growth.
This role has room to grow with the company — in responsibility, in earnings, and in impact.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead & Develop People
- Champion a culture of positivity, accountability, and growth across the field team
- Mentor and coach crew leads and technicians — see their potential and invest in helping them reach it
- Lead weekly stand-up and sit-down meetings with techs and crew leads
- Handle hiring, onboarding, performance conversations, and difficult decisions with honesty and care
- Organize crew appreciation events and team experiences that build real morale
Drive Operational Excellence
- Serve as the connecting force between leadership vision and day-to-day execution
- Collaborate daily with the office manager, shop manager, and landscape manager to keep operations running
- Visit job sites regularly to uphold quality standards, identify issues, and create solutions
- Manage scheduling coordination and client communication through our field service software (Jobber)
- Participate in weekly L10 leadership meetings and quarterly planning sessions
Grow the Business
- Perform maintenance and cleanup quotes for prospective and existing clients
- Identify and present upsell opportunities: landscape installations, seasonal cleanups, out-of-scope maintenance, and referrals to our trusted service partners (fertilization, tree work, irrigation)
- Earn commission on upsells and new business you help close
- Attend chamber events, BNI meetings, and community networking functions
- Build genuine relationships that lead to referrals, new clients, and long-term business growth
WHO YOU ARE
We are not requiring green industry experience. We are looking for the right person. Here is what that looks like:
- You have a proven track record of building and developing a team — people grew under your leadership and you can speak to it
- You are a natural encourager who also holds people to a high standard — with consistency and respect
- You handle conflict resolution, coaching, and hard conversations without shrinking from them
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit — you take initiative, spot opportunities, and do not wait to be told what to do
- You are genuinely positive — the kind of person who carries a team through a hard day
- You enjoy meeting people, listening, and finding ways to help — networking energizes you
- You thrive in structured, goal-oriented environments and take real ownership of your role
- You are comfortable working outdoors in Florida heat — this role is both inside and outside, and being physically prepared for the environment matters
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Must Have:
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team in any industry — management, construction, field service, hospitality, or similar
- Ability to handle conflict resolution, performance management, hiring, and employee development
- Strong communication skills with crews, clients, and in professional networking settings
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Comfort with technology: scheduling software, mobile apps, spreadsheets
Preferred:
- Background in field service, construction, home services, hospitality, staffing, or people-intensive operations
- Experience in sales, quoting, or business development
- Familiarity with structured business operating frameworks — we run on one and training is provided
- Landscape or green industry knowledge is a plus, not a requirement
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Base Salary: $55,000+ (based on experience — top performers earn more through commissions and incentives)
- Upsell Commission: earn on every install, cleanup, and referred service you help close
- Performance Incentives: tied to team and operational results
- Bi-Annual Profit Share: the team shares in what we build together
- Retention Bonus: we reward loyalty and growth
- Direct Primary Care health coverage — paid for you
- Paid Time Off
- Professional development investment
- Employee referral program
- Real seat at the leadership table — input, ownership, and a future here
SCHEDULE
- Monday through Friday, 40–50 hours per week
- Seasonal flexibility during peak season — we are always transparent about what is coming
- Weekly crew meetings (stand-up + sit-down) plus leadership team meeting
- Community networking events as needed
