Overview
South Davis Community Hospital Campus is looking for a Full Time Medical Records Manager. This vital role within the healthcare industry requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who is capable of effectively managing medical documentation and ensuring its accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with industry regulations. As a Medical Records Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance, retrieval and organization of medical records, as well as managing a team responsible for coding, abstracting and auditing health records. Additionally, your expertise will be essential in implementing and maintaining advanced record-keeping systems, ensuring the seamless flow of patient information across various departments and healthcare providers. Responsibilities
Data Integrity & Management: Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of comprehensive patient health information (symptoms, medical histories, and examination results).
Compliance & Privacy: Enforce protocols to ensure patient confidentiality and adherence to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
Medical Coding: Supervise or assign diagnostic and procedural codes (such as ICD-10 and CPT) for patient care, data analysis, and insurance reimbursement.
System Management: Manage Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms, resolving access controls and auditing charts for completeness.
Team Leadership: Hire, train, and manage department staff, while serving as a liaison between information services and clinical personnel.
Medical Records Manager Duties & Responsibilities:
Create, organize, and maintain comprehensive medical records for each patient, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is recorded.
Ensure strict adherence to legal and ethical guidelines regarding patient information privacy and confidentiality.
Oversee the coding, indexing, and filing of medical records to aid in efficient retrieval and use.
Train and supervise employees involved in medical record management, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
Develop and implement procedures for the secure storage and retrieval of medical records, including but not limited to electronic health record systems.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatment.
Perform regular audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of medical records, correcting any errors or discrepancies promptly.
Stay updated with industry trends and regulations related to medical record management, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance.
Provide guidance and support to staff members regarding the proper handling and management of medical records.

Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.
- Extensive knowledge of health information management principles and best practices in records management.
- Familiarity with health regulation policies related to patient privacy, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
- Experience working with EHR systems and EMR/EHR management tools to ensure seamless data handling.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and revenue cycle management processes.
- Excellent customer service skills to effectively collaborate with clinical teams while maintaining confidentiality standards.
- Ability to interpret healthcare privacy policies and ensure organizational compliance with health information regulatory standards.
- Experience with ICD-10, CPT coding, and other medical classification systems
