Nirvana Kitchen and Wine Bar has expanded and moved to Hawthorn Row, and we are looking for a competitive Chef or Sous chef to add to our Kitchen. We are looking for someone focused on operations, organization and costing who also has the skills to help us run our kitchen and work the line. This candidate will have the opportunity to advance. Our menu is chef-driven and inspired by cuisine from all around the world. We specialize in fresh food that is fully prepared in-house from scratch. Nirvana is one of the few restaurants in Vernon Hills that is privately owned. We are seeking a Chef or Sous chef to add to our staff.
Requirements
- Open availability
- Proven track record building teams and coaching
- Ability to be cross-trained on all stations and train team on all stations
- Willingness to work in an environment with multiple focus areas that include: restaurants, events, and catering
- Full-time position

Responsibilities
- Production
- Prep sheets
- Recipe adherence
- Line management
- Prepare orders in a timely fashion ensuring food is cooked and plated to the restaurant standard
- Manage ordering and scheduling while maintaining cost parameters
- Work in a clean, organized fashion following health codes and restaurant guidelines
- Follow all restaurant dress code and hygiene standards
- Show up ready to work on-time
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a sous chef minimum
- Motivated
- Positive attitude
- Team player
- Manager Food Handlers Certificate

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
