Job Overview: The Housing Support Worker provides essential support to individuals and families in need of safe housing. This role involves working closely with individuals experiencing homelessness to address both practical and emotional needs, promoting independence, well-being, and stability. The Housing Support Worker advocates for individuals, offers guidance, and connects them with necessary resources to ensure a positive living environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Support:
- Health and Safety: Conduct health and safety assessments to ensure guests' living environments meet required standards.
- Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to guests, helping them manage stress and adapt to housing changes.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate conflicts and manage behavioral concerns to maintain a peaceful and secure living environment.
Administrative Tasks:
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of guest information, support activities, and interactions.
- Liaison: Act as a liaison between guests, social services, and other stakeholders to ensure guests’ needs are being met.
Other Duties:
- Community Inclusion: Promote community inclusion by facilitating activities and connections with local services.
- Property Maintenance: Report and escalate property maintenance issues to ensure a safe and comfortable living space for guests.
Qualifications:.
- Experience in housing support, social services (preferred).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of housing laws, social services, and community resources.
- Empathy and a non-judgmental attitude towards guests.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Some light physical activity may be required, such as lifting or assisting with minor home-related tasks.
