About Us: At Rude Cosmetics, we believe makeup is a tool of self-expression. We are a fast-paced, growing beauty brand looking for a highly organized Senior Packaging Designer & Production Manager to join our in-house team.
The Role: This is a true "player-coach" role. We need a hybrid professional who is an exceptional, hands-on packaging and prepress designer, but also has the leadership skills to manage our external production pipeline. You will be the central hub for our physical product design—creating structural packaging and dielines yourself, assigning overflow work to our overseas remote design team, and communicating daily with our factory partners in China to ensure every product prints flawlessly.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities):
- Hands-On Design & Prepress (50%): Lead the internal design of cosmetic packaging, unit cartons, primary components, and retail displays. Build technically flawless, print-ready files (dielines, bleeds, spot colors, CMYK) from scratch.
- Vendor Management (25%): Serve as the primary point of contact for our Chinese manufacturing partners. Review physical and digital proofs, negotiate production timelines, troubleshoot structural issues, and ensure strict quality control on all printed materials.
- Team Coordination (25%): Manage and art-direct our team of overseas freelance packaging designers (based in the Philippines). Assign tasks, QA their dielines and 3D renders, and ensure their output meets our brand standards before sending it to the factory.
- Workflow Optimization: Build organized systems for file management, brand asset libraries, and project tracking to keep multiple product launches moving simultaneously.
What You Bring to the Table (Requirements):
- Experience: 5+ years of professional graphic design experience, with a heavy emphasis on physical packaging, print production, and prepress. (Cosmetics/Beauty industry experience is a massive plus).
- Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). You must know how to read, modify, and build complex manufacturer dielines.
- Management Skills: Proven experience managing external vendors, printers, or remote/overseas freelance teams.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Experience communicating technical design specifications to overseas factories. You understand how to write incredibly clear, visual instructions to overcome language barriers.
