Job Title: Assistant Esports Coach
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Director of Esports, Head Esports Coach
Location: Marshalltown Community College, Marshalltown, IA
Rate of Pay: Stipend
Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide the Head Esports Coach and Esports Director assistance in various areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting student-athletes, coaching, summer camps, and personnel and facility management. The successful candidate will strive to provide a quality environment that will support student-athlete success on the field and in the classroom. The coach will seek to develop positive relationships on campus as well as in the community.
Job Duties:
- Coaching of one or more specific game title within the esports program
- Player development, including goal setting and progress monitoring
- Recruitment of new students to the esports program and college
- Personnel management and conflict resolution with assigned rosters
- Running practices with assigned rosters
- Game day personnel and facility management, including match chat operations and technical support
- Assisting with in-person events including tryouts, summer camps, competitions, IAHSEA tournaments, etc.
- Retention of students by monitoring academics, wellbeing, and burnout
- Regular communications with head coach and/or director about status of rosters and any ongoing concerns
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications and Licenses: N/A

- Coaching and player development
- Goal setting and monitoring

- Oral and written communication
- Knowledge of and ability to follow college, NJCAA, and NECC policies and procedures
- Knowledge of collegiate esports program
- Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
- Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
