Position Description:
Christ House Transformational Housing helps homeless men reestablish independence after they have exited an emergency shelter. Single adult men are provided with communal housing and intensive support up to 12 months. Christ House offers life skills coaching, spiritual formation, financial literacy, employment training and customized case management. The Overnight Resident Manager provides shelter coverage and monitors overnight activities at Christ House. The position covers the 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM overnight shift 5 nights per week; Sunday night through Thursday night. The Overnight Resident Manager serves as an important member of the Christ House staff team, ensuring all night shift policies and procedures are followed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide overnight supervision of Christ House residents and activities ensuring safety protocols are met in alignment with agency standards;
- Make scheduled rounds to ensure the premises are secure and evacuate the shelter in cases of emergency.
- Monitor resident movements within the shelter; Engage, and support residents as interactions allow when they are awake.
- Document all notable resident interactions with staff, volunteers, or other clients.
- Retrieve medications and administer urine screens and breathalyzer tests for residents as needed per ministry and agency policy guidelines.
- Communicate activities to staff at shift changes. Provide needed updates.
- Ability to multitask and adjust as needed to workload and ministry activity priorities.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to work nights.
- The position is considered "essential" personnel in times of hardship, such as extreme weather conditions and/or other emergencies.
- Willingness to uphold Catholic social teaching in the workplace;
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two years human service experience.
- Experience applying trauma informed care protocols a plus.
Physical Demands: The employee must have the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to use a computer keyboard; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The ability to stay awake through the night shift.
