Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Direct Support Professional to provide essential assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism and other disabilities. Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility needs.
- Support participation in community activities, social outings, and recreational programs to promote social integration.
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
- Collect data related to progress, behaviors, and service delivery to inform care plans and report outcomes.
- Administer medication following prescribed guidelines while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Facilitate communication using various methods, including American Sign Language when applicable, to ensure effective understanding.
- Provide transportation assistance by driving clients to appointments, activities, or community events as needed.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with home and community care practices, including assisting with ADLs and caregiving tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for transportation duties.
- Background in behavioral health or social work is advantageous.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion; experience in data collection and medication administration is preferred.
