Assist in reviewing and analyzing development applications and provide both formal and informal feedback on landscape and open space designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, plans, and Wildfire Urban Interface requirements.
Support the creation and maintenance of user-friendly guidance documents (e.g., checklists, design guides, plant lists) outlining landscape standards, submission requirements, and review processes.
Participate in site visits, inspections, and ongoing monitoring of landscaping, irrigation, and open space improvements across project phases to ensure alignment with approved plans and city requirements.
Attend and support pre-application, pre-construction, and other coordination meetings with city staff, developers, contractors, and external agencies.
Help respond to questions, concerns, and complaints from the public regarding development-related landscaping and open space issues.
Assist Code Compliance Officers in addressing landscape-related code violations and documenting findings.
Support updates to landscape guidelines, design standards, and ordinances through research, drafting, and team collaboration.
Assist in providing technical input for city-led capital improvement projects and coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and outside agencies as needed.
Supports implementation of Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) code, including property inspections.
May temporarily take on additional responsibilities in the absence of other staff.
