Autism FIRST provides high-quality autism services for children and families across Virginia. Our team is committed to helping families access timely, compassionate, and clinically appropriate support through assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing care. We are currently seeking an experienced In-Person Autism Assessor to support assessment needs across Virginia. This role may be structured as a 1099 contractor position or hourly position, depending on candidate qualifications, availability, and organizational needs.
Position Overview
The In-Person Autism Assessor will conduct face-to-face assessments for individuals seeking ABA Therapy. This role is ideal for a BCBA who has experience working with children and families, understands autism assessment procedures, and can provide professional, thorough, and compassionate evaluations. The assessor may support Autism FIRST locations across the state or work within a specific assigned clinic or region.
Key Responsibilities
The In-Person Autism Assessor may be responsible for: Conducting in-person assessments for children or individuals referred for ABA Therapy. Completing clinical observations, caregiver interviews, and assessment-related documentation. Using appropriate assessment tools and clinical judgment to support diagnostic or service recommendations. Collaborating with Autism FIRST clinical and administrative teams. Ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Communicating professionally with families, caregivers, and internal team members. Maintaining confidentiality and following all applicable clinical, ethical, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have: A BCBA. Experience conducting or supporting autism evaluations, developmental assessments, or behavioral assessments. Experience working with children, families, and individuals with autism or developmental differences. Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to travel for in-person assessments, if assigned to multiple locations. A professional license or certification may be required depending on the assessment responsibilities assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ABA Therapy tools or structured developmental assessments. Experience working in ABA, behavioral health, pediatric therapy, or developmental disability services. Virginia licensure or credentialing, if applicable. Availability to support multiple clinic locations or travel within an assigned region.
Compensation
This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $50.00 to $85.00 per hour, depending on experience, credentials, employment classification, and assigned responsibilities.
Work Location
This is an in-person role. The position may be posted as a statewide opportunity across Virginia or tailored to specific Autism FIRST clinic locations based on organizational need.
