Help build North Star USA
North Star Digital is a UK-based video production company expanding into the United States.
We produce conference content, corporate films, photography and marketing content for clients across healthcare, education and the corporate sector.
Were looking for an experienced Technical Production Manager to become one of the first full-time members of our North American team.
This is a hybrid role combining high-level conference AV with video production and editing. Youll work alongside our UK team across the United States and Europe, while helping us build North Stars long-term US operation.
The role
The conference AV side of this role is critical.
Youll be responsible for making sure the technical delivery of each event runs smoothly from start to finish.
That means:
- microphones working perfectly;
- no feedback or avoidable audio issues;
- presentations loaded, checked and ready;
- slides appearing exactly when they should;
- projectors, screens and confidence monitors operating correctly;
- speakers feeling supported and confident;
- local stagehands and venue teams being properly booked and coordinated;
- any technical issues being dealt with calmly and quickly.
Were looking for someone who takes pride in making live events feel effortless.
Between meetings, youll also work as part of our creative production team, filming and editing content for clients across North America.
Conference production responsibilities
- Set up and operate professional audio systems.
- Configure and manage wireless microphones.
- Set up and operate digital audio desks.
- Prevent and resolve feedback and other audio issues.
- Load, check and manage PowerPoint presentations.
- Operate presentation playback.
- Set up and manage projectors, screens and confidence monitors.
- Support speakers and presenters.
- Liaise with venues and local AV teams.
- Coordinate local stagehands.
- Prepare, test and maintain production equipment.
- Manage North Stars portable AV equipment.
- Troubleshoot calmly under pressure.
- Lead the technical delivery of meetings from setup through to breakdown.
- Deliver AV training to other members of the team.
Video production responsibilities
Outside conference periods, youll also:
- film corporate content;
- shoot interviews and testimonials;
- operate professional cameras;
- capture event and corporate photography;
- edit films in Adobe Premiere Pro;
- produce social media content;
- support ad board recordings and training content;
- travel throughout North America for client shoots;
- help develop North Stars US production capability.
About you
You may currently work in:
- corporate AV;
- conference production;
- live events;
- broadcast;
- video production;
- or a role combining technical and creative production.
Travel
The role will involve regular travel throughout:
- the United States;
- occasional travel to Canada;
- Europe, including approximately five meetings each year.
All authorised business travel, accommodation, meals and reasonable expenses will be covered by North Star.
When youre not travelling, youll primarily work remotely on editing, equipment preparation and other production projects.
