- Must hold a valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license
- As part of the School Nurse Certification, trained in airway management and in the use of nebulizers and inhalers consistent with nationally recognized standards.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, current health issues and wellness education.
- Knowledge of community health and social services’ resources and an ability to communicate effectively with non-school health professionals and social service agencies.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and confidentiality.
- Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Trained in CPR and First Aid.
- Trained in administration of inhaler, nebulizers, epipen, insulin and other medications as needed.
- Able to conduct health screenings.
- Effectively communicate with school personnel, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Maintain immunization records and promote vaccination compliance.
- Provide health related education to staff and students.
