Max City BBQ is looking for a hardworking, dependable Dishwasher / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized dish area while also assisting with food preparation, quality control, and supporting the line cooks during service.
Dishwasher Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dish area throughout the shift.
- Properly wash, sort, stack, and store dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and food-storage containers.
- Set up and maintain dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.
- Maintain clean and dry floors throughout the shift.
- Change dish machine and sink water every two hours, or more frequently as needed based on business volume.
- Properly use cleaning chemicals and follow required dilution procedures.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries.
- Keep trash cans under control throughout the shift and remove full trash cans and boxes at the end of the shift.
- Maintain an organized dry-storage area and clean storage shelves.
- Follow all posted daily dish-cleaning duties.
- Assist the kitchen team with cleaning and other duties requested by the chef.
- Empty bus trays and return them to the appropriate area.
- Help keep the dining room and service areas clean and organized.
- Assist the front-of-house and kitchen teams wherever needed to keep service running smoothly.
Prep Cook Responsibilities
- Properly prepare menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and kitchen procedures.
- Prepare vegetables, meats, sauces, sides, garnishes, and other ingredients needed for daily service.
- Make designated menu items and components from start to finish according to Max City BBQ recipes and standards.
- Follow prep lists and prioritize work based on business needs and upcoming service.
- Ensure food is properly portioned, labeled, dated, stored, and rotated.
- Monitor prepared food for freshness, appearance, portion size, temperature, and overall quality.
- Perform quality checks on food before it is sent to the line or used for service.
- Communicate with line cooks and kitchen leadership when food is low, unavailable, improperly prepared, or does not meet quality standards.
- Keep the line stocked with necessary ingredients and prepared items during service.
- Assist line cooks with basic tasks during busy periods to help maintain a smooth and efficient service.
- Maintain clean, sanitized, and organized prep areas and equipment.
- Properly handle and store food according to food-safety procedures.
- Minimize food waste while maintaining proper quality and portion standards.
- Complete prep work efficiently and have stations ready before service.
- Assist with closing duties, including proper storage of food, cleaning equipment, and restocking for the next shift.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills
- Previous restaurant or kitchen experience required.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food-safety procedures.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and food quality.
- Able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Self-motivated with a positive, high-energy attitude.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to prioritize and multitask during busy service periods.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Willingness to help wherever needed to support the kitchen team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical kitchen duties.
- Must be comfortable working in a hot, busy kitchen environment.
