Overview
Head Injury Association (HIA) is a nonprofit organization supporting individuals with traumatic brain injuries and developmental disabilities. HR professionals who join HIA have the unique opportunity to apply their skills in a mission-driven setting —offering purpose beyond what many traditional HR roles provide.
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance tracking, employee relations, and recordkeeping. Job duties include:
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support recruitment activities including job postings, interviews, and candidate communications.
- Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation.
- Assist employees with HR-related inquiries, including benefits, leaves, and policy
- Maintain employee records and HRIS systems to ensure compliance.
- Support employee relations efforts by assisting with investigations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal labor regulations
- Prepare reports and metrics as requested by leadership.
- Support training and development initiatives as needed.
- Participate in audits, surveys, and quality assurance reviews as they relate to HR documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in a Human Resources role preferred.
- Knowledge of OPWDD or nonprofit sector a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS and Microsoft Office required.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
