About the Role
We are seeking a high-performing, persuasive Property Claims Negotiator with a deep understanding of insurance restoration. In this role, your primary mission is to take pre-written rebuild estimates and supplements and navigate them through the insurance approval process to reach a final, settled agreement.
You are the bridge between our estimating team and the insurance adjuster. You will not just be "submitting paperwork"—you will be actively defending scopes, leveraging photographic and code-compliance evidence, and deploying advanced negotiation skills to ensure our restoration projects are fully funded and approved for a proper build-back.
Key Responsibilities
- Claim Settlement Ownership: Manage a pipeline of residential and commercial rebuild claims from submission to final agreed price with insurance carriers.
- Estimate Defense: Review Xactimate rebuild estimates and thoroughly understand the scope so you can confidently defend labor, material, and code-upgrade line items to adjusters.
- Strategic Negotiation: Establish rapport with insurance adjusters, counter their objections professionally, and find creative, evidence-based pathways to reach a settled agreement without sacrificing job profitability.
- Evidence Compilation: Organize supporting documentation (photos, engineering reports, local building codes, manufacturer specifications) to build bulletproof cases for supplements.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain meticulous notes in our CRM, tracking communication timelines to prevent files from stalling out in the insurance review phase.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3–5 years of direct experience negotiating property insurance claims.
- Rebuild Knowledge: Strong understanding of general contracting, build-back processes, framing, finishes, and regional building codes. You must know how a house goes back together to argue for the right line items.
- Software Literacy: Proficiency in Xactimate (X1) and standard restoration CRM systems (e.g., JobNimbus, Dash, Encircle). You must be able to read and interpret an Xactimate PDF quickly.
- The Negotiator's Mindset: Highly persuasive and thick-skinned. You know how to stay professional, calm, and firm under pressure, turning an initial "no" into a collaborative "yes."
- Policy Expertise: Solid understanding of property insurance policy language, including RCV (Replacement Cost Value), ACV (Actual Cash Value), and Ordinance or Law coverage.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary plus a strong commission/bonus structure based on settled file volume and retained margins.
- Paid time off (PTO) and company-paid holidays.
- A remote-friendly work culture backed by a collaborative estimating and project management team.
How to Apply
If you are a closer who thrives on getting files across the finish line and likes out-negotiating insurance carriers, we want you on our team. Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of your biggest settlement win or your philosophy on handling difficult adjusters.
