About the Role
The Chef de Cuisine (CDC) is a full-time salaried position responsible for the overall leadership of the back-of-house team at The Boathouse at Sunday Park. You’ll manage daily kitchen operations, drive consistency and excellence in every dish, and help develop a team culture grounded in HOUSEpitality’s core values: Integrity, Knowledge, Empowerment, and Innovation.
You’ll partner closely with the General Manager and Executive Chef to achieve operational goals, lead prep and service, and play an active role in menu evolution and seasonal features.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations
- Maintain target food and labor costs consistently
- Oversee inventory, ordering, and FIFO rotation
- Hire, train, and coach all kitchen staff
- Supervise prep, service, and plate presentation to ensure brand standards are upheld
- Support execution of large events, weddings, and waterfront dining experiences
- Foster a strong, collaborative team culture based on trust, accountability, and continuous growth
- Provide feedback, mentoring, and opportunities for development
- Maintain and refine kitchen systems, daily checklists, and operating procedures
Desired Experience & Attributes
- 4+ years of culinary leadership experience
- Full working knowledge of all kitchen stations and service flow
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in high-volume kitchen environments (banquets a plus)
- Ability to lead service during high-pressure shifts and large events
- Willingness to work major holidays and peak seasons
- ServSafe Manager Certified (preferred but not required)
- A positive, solutions-focused leadership style
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting base salary: $54,000 annually
- Bonus potential up to $3,000 annually, paid monthly once Level 2 milestone is reached
- Once you complete Levels 3 and 4 of our culinary career path, your base salary increases by 2.5% for each level completed. Many Chef de Cuisine leaders complete these levels within their first few months.
- After completing both levels, your salary increases to: $56,733.75 + bonus
- Weekly pay via direct deposit
- Paid Time Off starting on Day 1, growing to 4 weeks/year by Year 4
