Guide Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual who holds an Infant/ Toddler Montessori credential to join Bluebird Montessori School. This role is somewhere between a Lead Guide and an Assistant Guide. Our microschool program has a capacity of 10 children total. The Guide will work closely with the director and other guide to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children aged 6 months to 3 years old. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and well-being of young children within the framework of Montessori philosophy.
Required Responsibilities:
- Assist the director in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on the Montessori philosophy.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain a safe, orderly, and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Observation and Assessment: Observe children's behavior and progress, and communicate observations to the director and parents as necessary.
- Individualized Support: Provide individualized support and guidance to children as they engage in independent and group activities.
- Material Preparation/Classroom Maintenance: Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining classroom materials and activities to facilitate children's learning and exploration.
- Modeling Behavior: Serve as a positive role model for children, demonstrating respect, kindness, and empathy in all interactions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other staff, parents, and director to ensure the holistic development of each child.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to deepen understanding of Montessori principles and child development.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, maintaining classroom supplies, and other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Passion for Early Childhood Education: Genuine passion for working with young children and commitment to their holistic development.
- Understanding and awareness of child development and an ongoing commitment to deepening learning.
- Montessori Training: Completion of a Montessori training program, or willingness to receive education about Montessori philosophy and education.
- Experience: Previous experience working with young children in a Montessori setting
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the classroom community.
- Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of children and the classroom environment.
- Patience and Empathy: Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the developmental needs of young children.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to meet the physical demands of working with young children, including bending, lifting, and sitting on the floor for extended periods.
