About Us
Lola’s Mexican-American Cuisine is an exciting new brick-and-mortar restaurant taking over the existing Taqueria El Toro location right here in Lomira! We are passionate about serving high-quality, flavorful food to our community. Our kitchen focuses heavily on authentic Mexican dishes and proteins, alongside our signature smash burgers. We are also excited to be firing up a traditional trompo in the kitchen! While operating the trompo won't be your responsibility, you'll be cooking alongside it in a vibrant, authentic culinary environment. We are looking for a reliable, hard-working Cook to join our team and help us launch strong in our newly transitioned space.
What You’ll Do
- Operate the griddle (flat top) and charbroiler to prepare menu items accurately and to order.
- Cook authentic Mexican cuisine, ensuring high quality, proper techniques, and traditional flavor profiles.
- Execute our signature smash burgers with precision during high-volume services.
- Assist with daily food prep, including marinating meats, preparing salsas, and portioning fresh ingredients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times, following all food safety guidelines.
- Work efficiently with the rest of the kitchen team during peak service hours to ensure timely ticket execution.
- Assist with closing duties, restocking, and inventory management as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
- Equipment Knowledge: Proven comfort and skill working the hot line, specifically utilizing a commercial griddle and charbroiler.
- Skills: Strong background in cooking authentic Mexican food is highly preferred. Experience with smash burgers is a massive plus. Strong knife skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential.
- Attributes: Punctual, a strong team player, and adaptable to a growing, fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting Wage: $18.00/hour
- 90-Day Bump: Automatic increase to $20.00/hour after 90 days of consistent, quality performance.
