Job Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and coordinating human resources functions for New Age Services Corporation (NASC), a CARF-accredited behavioral health and opioid treatment provider. This position supports the recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, and development of employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, CARF, Medicaid, Medicare, and organizational requirements.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and leadership team by promoting a positive workplace culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting employee relations, and maintaining accurate personnel records. The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting with workforce planning, credentialing support, performance management, employee engagement, and disciplinary processes.
The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and works collaboratively with all departments to support NASC's mission, values, and strategic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer day-to-day human resource operations and employee relations activities.
- Maintain employee personnel files, records, and documentation in accordance with legal, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and revision of human resource policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits of personnel files to ensure compliance with CARF, Medicaid, Medicare, IDHS/SUPR, and NASC standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, organizational, and client-related information.
Recruitment and Staffing
- Coordinate all recruitment activities, including posting vacancies, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing hiring recommendations.
- Develop and maintain recruitment strategies to attract qualified behavioral health, nursing, counseling, and administrative professionals.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and required employment documentation.
- Ensure all required pre-employment screenings, background checks, credential verifications, and drug screenings are completed.
- Maintain staffing reports and vacancy tracking systems.
Employee Relations and Performance Management
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding personnel policies and procedures.
- Assist leadership with employee coaching, corrective action plans, disciplinary actions, investigations, and grievance procedures.
- Participate in employee performance evaluation processes and assist managers in addressing performance concerns.
- Support conflict resolution efforts and foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor employee attendance, leave utilization, and workplace concerns.
Training and Compliance
- Coordinate employee training, annual compliance requirements, and professional development activities.
- Monitor completion of mandatory trainings, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
- Assist with CARF accreditation activities, surveys, and quality improvement initiatives related to human resources.
- Maintain training records and compliance reports.
- Support organizational efforts to improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace satisfaction.
Credentialing and Workforce Compliance
- Assist in maintaining employee licenses, certifications, credentials, and required documentation.
- Monitor expiration dates and notify staff and supervisors of upcoming renewals.
- Support credentialing and enrollment activities for clinical and medical staff as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with workforce requirements established by funding sources and regulatory agencies.
Administrative and Organizational Support
- Prepare reports related to staffing, turnover, vacancies, training compliance, and employee relations matters.
- Keep the CEO and CFO informed of significant personnel issues, compliance concerns, and workforce trends.
- Participate in committee meetings, staff meetings, and special projects as assigned.
- Assist with organizational events, employee recognition programs, and employee engagement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO, CFO, or designee.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and electronic document management systems.

- Knowledge of behavioral health, substance use treatment, healthcare, or nonprofit environments preferred.
- Familiarity with CARF accreditation standards and regulatory compliance requirements preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible human resources experience preferred.
- Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, substance use treatment, nonprofit, or human services organizations strongly preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or equivalent human resources certification preferred.
- Experience with employee relations, recruitment, compliance, onboarding, and performance management required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between NASC service locations as needed.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
