The Multilingual Learner (ML) Teacher provides instructional leadership and targeted expertise to ensure the academic and linguistic success of multilingual students. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, targeted instruction through small-group settings while serving as a collaborative partner to classroom teachers. The Specialist will bridge content and language instruction. Bilingual Spanish is required.
- Develop and implement targeted lesson plans tailored to the specific linguistic needs of ML students, utilizing WIDA Standards and Can-Do Descriptors.
- Facilitate daily small groups focused on English Language Development (ELD) in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Apply deep knowledge of the SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) model to scaffold academic language during instruction.
- Partner with grade-level teams to model effective strategies and assist in the development of language objectives for Tier 1 instruction.
- Assist with administrative tasks on ELLevation, including monitoring forms for exited students and conducting exit interviews.
- Coordinate and manage the annual WIDA ACCESS for ELLs testing process, including scheduling, proctoring, and data verification.
- Lead the ELD Task Force.

Current Utah Educator License with ESL Endorsement.

Demonstrated experience with the SIOP instructional model
- Advanced knowledge of WIDA assessments and data analysis.
- Proven track record of successful collaboration within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) or Professional Learning Community (PLC) framework.
- Familiarity with the ELLevation platform for student tracking and instructional planning.
