Employee Engagement Specialist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Director of Employee Relations & Development / HR Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary
The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and supporting
initiatives that enhance employee experience, engagement, communication,
recognition, and workplace culture across the organization. This role partners closely
with employees, managers, and HR leadership to strengthen morale, improve retention,
support onboarding efforts, and promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
The ideal candidate is energetic, relationship-focused, highly organized, and passionate
about creating meaningful employee experiences in a fast-paced operational
environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Employee Engagement & Culture
Develop and coordinate employee engagement initiatives aligned with company
culture and values.
Plan and execute employee appreciation events, recognition programs,
celebrations, and engagement activities.
Support initiatives that improve employee morale, communication, and workplace
connection.
Partner with leaders to identify engagement opportunities and recommend
solutions to improve employee experience.
Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture throughout the organization.
Employee Experience & Retention
Conduct new hire check-ins and support onboarding experience initiatives.
Assist with employee retention strategies including stay interviews, pulse
surveys, and feedback collection.
Monitor engagement trends and provide recommendations to HR leadership.
Support programs focused on employee wellness, recognition, and work-life
balance.
Assist employees with general HR questions and direct them to appropriate
resources.
Internal Communication & Branding
Create employee communication materials including newsletters, flyers, digital
announcements, presentations, and engagement campaigns.
Support HR communication strategies related to company initiatives, benefits,
events, and organizational updates.
Assist with maintaining HR communication boards, breakroom materials, and
employee-facing content.
Help strengthen employer branding internally and externally.
Training & Development Support
Assist with orientation and onboarding sessions for new employees.
Support leadership development and employee training initiatives.
Coordinate logistics for workshops, meetings, and employee development
programs.
Track participation and feedback related to engagement and development
activities.
HR Support & Collaboration
Partner with HR team members and operational leaders to support employee-
focused initiatives.
Assist with employee relations follow-up and employee concerns as appropriate.
Maintain engagement calendars, participation records, and event budgets.
Support special HR projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Communications, Business
Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
2–4 years of experience in employee engagement, HR, communications, event
coordination, or related field preferred.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously.
Creative mindset with the ability to generate engagement ideas and initiatives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and presentation/design tools such as Canva
or similar platforms.
Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, or operational
environments preferred.
Experience coordinating company events and employee recognition programs.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Experience with employee surveys and engagement platforms preferred.
