We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Immigration Legal Assistant, Immigration Paralegal, or Bilingual Immigration Paralegal (Spanish-speaking preferred) to join our dedicated legal team. Duties
- Assist attorneys with preparing and reviewing immigration documentation, including petitions, applications, and supporting evidence
- Conduct detailed legal research on immigration laws, policies, and procedural requirements using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools
- Manage case files efficiently using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date
- Interview clients to gather essential information, verify documents, and provide clear explanations of legal processes in both English and Spanish
- Draft legal correspondence, affidavits, and other documents with precision and attention to detail
- Coordinate with clients on case status updates, appointment scheduling, and document submission deadlines
- Support attorneys in preparing for hearings or interviews by organizing case materials and conducting procedural law research
Requirements
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant specializing in immigration law or related fields such as family law or civil litigation support
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish; excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
- Strong knowledge of immigration procedures, forms, and relevant laws; familiarity with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) processes preferred
- Proficiency with legal support software including iManage, PCLaw, Westlaw, LexisNexis, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), and document review systems
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy
- Experience handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Excellent interviewing skills combined with strong research capabilities to support complex cases across various legal areas such as estate planning, environmental law, tribal law & regulations, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, UCC law, securities law, patent law, general & commercial litigation
- Knowledge of procedural law principles relevant to immigration proceedings and civil litigation support
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; proactive problem-solving attitude
