Responsibilities
Direct all phases of the estimating process for large-scale steel projects, spanning from material takeoffs to final proposal submissions.
Formulate and adjust competitive pricing models for fabrication, erection, and specialized rigging scopes.
Collaborate closely with project managers and field operations to ensure estimated labor hours match real-world execution capabilities.
Analyze structural drawings and contract specifications to accurately identify scope, potential risks, and exclusions.
Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with owners, general contractors, and design teams during the preconstruction phase.
Partner with senior executives to develop margin strategies, allocate overhead, and evaluate project selection.
Support business development by participating in go/no-go analyses and presenting qualifications to potential clients.
Execute a seamless handoff of awarded contracts to the operations team, outlining the scope narrative and budget breakdowns.
Must-Have's / Requirements
At least 10 years of experience in structural steel estimating, with a minimum of 3 years in a lead or senior role.
Comprehensive knowledge of steel fabrication, erection methods, detailing, and connection design concepts.
Proven proficiency with standard estimating software (such as Tekla, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar)
Demonstrated history of estimating diverse project types, including commercial, industrial, and heavy civil construction.
