We are seeking a well rounded machinist for capable of setting up and operating horizontal/vertical mills. This role involves set up and operation for vertical and horizontal mills to produce parts from castings/fabrications/forgings/bar stock.
candidate must display ability to read and interpret drawings, have a working knowledge of G and M code, possess the ability to qualify their parts using measuring tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate horizontal or vertical milling machines with Fanuc or mitsubishi controls.
- have a working knowledge of G and M code/understand machine tool logic
- Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
- work from process sheets for machine set up.
- conduct themselves in a professional manner working solo or in a group
- Conduct first-piece inspections and perform in-process quality checks using micrometers, indicators, and calipers..
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting of equipment.
- Log production data, quality checks, and tool changes.
- Follow all safety standards and maintain an organized workstation.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.Qualifications
- 5 years in machining preferred.
- 5 years of experience in horizontal milling or general machining—set-up experience strongly preferred.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, engineering prints, and GD&T.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Safety-focused and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs as required.
- Good visual acuity and manual dexterity for precision work.
