Summary:
The Pump Station Applications Specialist supports the technical review and configuration of packaged pump station solutions for municipal, commercial, and industrial projects. This role is a good fit for someone with an engineering or technical background who enjoys reviewing project requirements, interpreting specifications, evaluating pump and system needs, and helping identify practical equipment solutions.
This position works closely with Business Development, Project Sales, and internal technical resources to review project specifications, drawings, site information, and customer requirements early in the sales process. The goal is to help determine the right pump station approach, identify technical concerns, recommend appropriate pump and equipment configurations, and support a smooth handoff from opportunity review to proposal and project execution.
We are open to a range of backgrounds for this role. Prior pump station, wastewater, water infrastructure, pump selection, or technical applications experience is helpful, but we are also interested in mechanical engineering graduates, civil engineering graduates, technically strong early-career candidates, and candidates with relevant internships, co-ops, estimating, technical sales support, or project coordination experience. A Professional Engineer license is not required. PE licensure or EIT status is a plus for candidates who bring it, but the primary need is sound technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to learn EFG’s products, standards, and application process.
Responsibilities:
- Review specifications, drawings, site information, and project data to understand application requirements and potential technical concerns.
- Assist in determining pump station requirements, including pump type, sizing considerations, equipment needs, and system configuration.
- Help translate customer needs, site conditions, and project requirements into practical, cost-conscious equipment recommendations.
- Evaluate hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, structural, and site-related considerations with support from internal and external technical resources as needed.
- Prepare early-stage documentation, including technical summaries, review notes, design assumptions, equipment recommendations, and application guidance.
- Support proposal development by clarifying technical scope, identifying missing information, and helping ensure recommendations are accurate and buildable.
- Participate in customer calls, engineer-facing discussions, site visits, or pre-bid conversations when technical clarification is needed.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Project Sales, engineering resources, vendors, and external reviewers to refine system recommendations and project handoffs.
- Learn and apply EFG product standards, component options, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices.
- For candidates who hold or later obtain PE licensure, support responsible engineering review where appropriate based on experience, licensure, internal standards, and scope of responsibility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Recent graduates with relevant internships, co-ops, senior design projects, estimating experience, technical sales support experience, or project coordination experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with pump stations, wastewater systems, water infrastructure, hydraulics, mechanical systems, pump selection, or technical applications is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, site information, and technical project requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn EFG’s products, standards, and application process.
- Comfortable working with sales, business development, vendors, engineers, and internal project teams in a fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal product, quoting, and technical reference tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, practical problem-solving ability, and good judgment.
- EIT status, PE licensure, or progress toward professional licensure is a plus, but not required.
