The Assistant Superintendent supports field operations on commercial construction projects, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules and quality expectations. This role works closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to coordinate subcontractors, manage daily jobsite activities, and maintain strong communication across the project team.
Projects often involve complex construction scopes and high-quality standards, requiring strong coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Field teams play a critical role in driving execution, quality control, and overall project success.
- Assist the Superintendent with daily jobsite operations, including coordination of trades and field activities.
- Support the development and execution of short-term schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, and site logistics to maintain workflow and productivity.
- Monitor jobsite safety and help enforce OSHA and company safety standards.
- Perform regular site walks to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
- Review construction drawings and assist in identifying potential conflicts or constructability issues.
- Track inspections, punch list items, and overall project progress.
- Maintain daily reports, site logs, and project documentation.
- Support communication between field teams, project management, and subcontractors.
- Assist in coordinating inspections and ensuring timely approvals from relevant authorities.
- Help manage material staging and site organization to support efficient operations.
- 2–5 years of experience in construction, preferably in a field-based role such as Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, or similar.
- Experience working on commercial construction projects (ground-up and/or tenant improvements preferred).
- Basic understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced jobsite environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience supporting c omplex or high-end commercial projects.
- Familiarity with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or scheduling software.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- Exposure to preconstruction coordination, logistics planning, or field engineering is a plus.
