Hispanic Counseling Center is currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Bilingual (Spanish/English) Youth Counselor to join our Teen Drop In Center.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Provide academic support and homework assistance (including translation when needed)
· Maintain a professional and punctual presence; dress in casual professional attire unless otherwise directed
· Assist supervisor with administrative and program-related tasks
· Attend weekly supervision meetings and staff trainings
· Create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students
· Teach effective study strategies to promote academic success
· Keep accurate records of workshops, activities, and student progress
· Distribute healthy meals to students daily
· Participate in staff meetings and youth program trainings
· Manage inventory of snacks, supplies, and program materials
· Perform front desk duties including scheduling, record-keeping, and tutoring coordination
· Support workshops and program activities
· Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior
· Represent the Teen Drop-In Center at outreach events
· Foster an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere for all students
· Be flexible and willing to volunteer at events throughout the year
Summer Responsibilities (July & August):
· Serve as a Summer Youth Counselor during our 6-week camp program
· Supervise children and teens during field trips and daily activities
· Facilitate workshops and distribute meals
· Attend all required summer trainings
· Conduct screenings once trained
· Drive a 15-passenger van for field trips (as needed)
Required
· Minimum of Associates Degree in Social Work, psychology or related field.
· Must be fully fluent in both Spanish and English
· Must have valid Driver’s license and transportation
· Some knowledge of mental health/substance use preferred
· Must be self-driven and passionate about helping people
· Some Experience working with teens and multicultural populations.
Preferred:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
· Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
