Position Responsibilities
General

Must possess a good working knowledge of plant equipment in the assigned operating unit

Must possess a good understanding of the operation and processes in the assigned operating unit

Must understand and follow all safety and operating procedures

Maintain daily logs and records as instructed
-
Responsible for maintaining the boiler log and managing the boiler operator schedule (optional through the black seal boiler certification)

Must understand basic chemistry for products made in assigned production area
-
Maintain plant cleanliness to COIM’s housekeeping standards
-
Recognizes and documents "abnormal" operating conditions with proper response including immediate notification of supervision

Perform physical cycle counts
Raw Materials
-
Reading batch and operating instructions associated with the preparation of raw material
-
Unload bulk raw materials and intermediates from trucks to storage or packages
-
Proper operation of transfer controls, PLC systems, pneumatic, and electrical equipment for the offloading of raw materials
-
Sampling of incoming raw materials
-
Preparation of re-work and partials containers in ovens for upcoming batches
Charge Reactors
-
Possess good working knowledge of batch-calc including log page and recipe pages entries for tracking of raw material and packing procedures
-
Load raw material in the reactors through super-sacks, totes or drums material
-
Using the proper checklist to track raw material charging
-
Loading Re-work and partials package in the reactors and dissolvers
Finished Goods
-
Reading batch and operating instructions associated with the preparation of the packaging of finished products.

Loading of bulk trucks and railcars
-
Retaining sample for package or bulk loading
-
Perform moisture analysis on retains
-
Proper packaging and storage of finished goods for customer shipments
-
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
-
Position requires a High School diploma or GED
-
1 year minimum experience as an operator in a chemical or similar field
-
Must be able to work a Dupont schedule (12-hour rotating day and night shifts, alternating 3 days one week and 4 days the next week. Workdays are interspersed with one to seven consecutive days off).

Maintain a black seal boiler license (optional)

Forklift Operation

Ottawa Truck Operation (optional)

Good working knowledge of Microsoft systems, Outlook, Excel.
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills
Physical and Work Environment

Wear protective or safety equipment such as a respirator as needed

Walking between departments, using stairs and climbing ladders

Bending and lifting up to 50lbs manually and unassisted
The Poly Production Operator will perform all tasks essential in the preparation and storage of finished products and raw materials utilizing reactors, storage tanks, pumps and other equipment specific to COIM’s manufacturing units. Primary duties will involve: charging raw materials to the reactor, packaging completed finish goods; obtaining samples and performing basic analysis such as water tests. Conducting all processing operations in manufacturing ensuring all work is performed in a safe, orderly, and clean fashion.
