Job Title: Concrete Superintendent

Job Summary
The Concrete Superintendent directs all on-site concrete operations on multiple job sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role provides strategic oversight of multiple projects and multiple foremen and crews, ensures adherence to project specifications, and drives productivity, safety, and quality across all field operations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in concrete construction, takeoffs, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor foremen, carpenters, finishers, and laborers.
- Ensure all formwork, rebar placement, anchor bolt installation, concrete pours, and finishing meet strict engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate the delivery of equipment and materials and sequence daily tasks. Sequence concrete placement to maximize productivity.
- Lead daily site walks, conduct toolbox talks, and enforce Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs).
- Monitor labor hours, track production metrics, review cost reports, and adjust field activities to align with project budgets.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (i.e. OSHA regulations)
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, engineers, and clients
- Manage subcontractors, materials, equipment, and labor on assigned projects
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety meetings, and quality control checks
- Maintain detailed reporting on progress, production, and job site conditions
- Review and approve Daily Field Reports submitted by Foremen
- Review Daily Equipment Inspection reports submitted by Foremen
- Approve time sheets and submit to the General Superintendent
- Strong leadership and safety management skills
- Review project estimates and perform detailed quantity takeoffs
- Provide input on budgeting, cost control, and value engineering opportunities
- Analyze project risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal construction codes and regulations
- Assist in bid reviews, scope analysis, and constructability assessments
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 10+ years in concrete construction, with 3 or more years in a supervisory or foreman role. Proven track record as a Superintendent or senior field leader.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications.
- Expert-level knowledge of concrete installation methods
- In-depth understanding of construction codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA 30 or OSHA 40 certification or willing to obtain through company training
- Experience with GPS machine control, grading technology, and project management software
- Ability to operate heavy equipment when necessary
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Experience with DOT, municipal, or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with construction software
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor construction sites with frequent movement across job sites
- Exposure to heavy machinery, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
- Regular interaction with crews, management, clients, and inspectors
- Requires travel between multiple job sites
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active construction sites for extended periods
- Ability to climb, balance, and access trenches and elevated areas as needed
- Occasional lifting of tools or materials (up to 50 lbs.)
- Capability to perform both supervisory and hands-on support when necessary
