QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Holds or is eligible for a valid Florida Teaching Certificate appropriate.
Preferred
- Experience teaching in a K–12 school setting.
- Previous experience teaching Modern Greek language.
- Experience integrating technology into language instruction.
- Knowledge of dual-language, immersion, or international educational programs.
Position Summary
The World Language – Greek Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in Modern Greek language, literature, culture, and communication skills for students in grades K–12. The successful candidate will create a classroom environment where students develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while gaining an appreciation for Greek history, traditions, and contemporary culture.
Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based Greek language lessons aligned with Florida Standards and school curriculum.
- Develop students' proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Greek.
- Integrate Greek history, literature, traditions, and contemporary culture into daily instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and language needs of students.
- Utilize technology, interactive learning strategies, and authentic resources to enhance student engagement.
- Foster an inclusive classroom that promotes curiosity, communication, and cultural appreciation.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Assess student learning through a variety of formal and informal assessments, including projects, presentations, written work, and performance-based tasks.
- Analyze student performance data to guide instruction and interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school leadership regarding student achievement.
Classroom Management
- Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and culturally responsive learning environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student engagement and success.
- Establish high expectations for academic achievement and student behavior.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in professional learning focused on world language instruction, second-language acquisition, and instructional best practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to improve student outcomes.
- Attend faculty meetings, parent conferences, school events, and other required activities.
- Maintain compliance with all school, district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support and sponsor language clubs, cultural celebrations, academic competitions, or other enrichment activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

- Advanced proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Modern Greek.
- Strong knowledge of Greek literature, history, traditions, and culture.
- Understanding of second-language acquisition and effective instructional methodologies.
- Ability to create engaging, student-centered language learning experiences.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to use assessment data to improve student learning.
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms.
