Overview:
The Lead Behavioral Support Specialist provides leadership and supervision to behavior specialists by overseeing evidence-based behavioral practices that improve student outcomes and support inclusive learning environments. This role conducts and oversees specialists who engage in functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, data analysis, and the implementation of positive behavior supports while coaching educators, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams. The Lead Behavioral Support Specialist delivers professional development, mentors staff and BCBA candidates, and provides guidance on behavioral interventions, classroom management, IEP and 504 implementation, and tiered systems of support across multiple school settings. The position requires strong collaboration, organization, and leadership to build staff capacity, ensure fidelity of behavioral programming, and foster effective, compliant, and professional performance of behavior specialists
Responsibilities:
Essential Tasks

Provide professional development tailored to specialist needs, student behavior data, and behavior needs at each campus including:

Classroom management strategies, classroom design/set-up, and classroom practices.

Collaborative strategies used between specialists and staff
-
Support the Student Response Team (SRT) process by helping school teams develop methods for collecting behavioral data and determining effective interventions to support students.
Supervise
-
Specialists and school teams with conducting functional behavioral assessments as needed
-
Development, monitoring, and adjustment of effective behavior intervention plans to address a variety of student behaviors
-
Collection and use of behavioral data on the school, classroom, and student levels to develop tiered systems of support addressing student behavior

Effective development and implementation of IEP and 504 goals

Effective implementation of strategies, accommodations, and behavior intervention plans for students with disabilities with behavioral needs
Qualifications:
Education & Credentials
-
Master's degree in a student support field (e.g., psychology, special education, school counseling, social work) with coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred (or actively pursuing BCBA if appropriate for the position)
Professional Experience
-
Experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

Experience guiding the implementation of evidence-based positive behavior interventions and supports across school settings
-
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and related service providers
-
Experience supporting students with a wide range of behavioral, social-emotional, developmental, and communication needs
-
Experience supervising or mentoring BCBA candidates pursuing fieldwork hours (preferred)

Demonstrated teacher leadership experience, including coaching educators, modeling instructional and behavioral strategies, facilitating professional development, or leading school- or district-based behavioral initiatives

Experience working across multiple school sites, and in virtual environments as needed

Compensation:
$35-$40 Hourly
