Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including taking and recording vital signs and medical history.
- Clean teeth using ultrasonic scalers, hand instruments, and polishing tools to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice.
- Assist with various dental procedures such as prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to ensure seamless patient care and smooth clinic operations.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by coordinating appointments and providing excellent customer service at the front desk.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in general dentistry with familiarity in dental terminology and medical coding.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental specialties including orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, pediatric dentistry, and oral surgery.
- Ability to accurately assess vital signs and interpret medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs.
- Prior experience working in a busy dental clinic or office setting is highly preferred.
