POSITION SUMMARY
The Journeyman Lineman will assist in the construction and maintenance of distribution powerlines. The successful candidate will hold a valid Journeyperson certification and have previous experience in the distribution powerline industry. The candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of distribution powerline construction, problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and share our core value of “we work safe.”
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Duties & Compliance
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair high- and low-voltage distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair overhead and underground distribution lines.
- Construct new distribution powerlines across all phases, including framing of wood and steel structures.
- Perform conductor stringing and cable pulling in overhead and civil environments.
- Support setup and operation of pulling and tensioning equipment.
- Operate various equipment used in the construction and maintenance of distribution powerlines.
- Maintain interior, exterior, overhead, and underground electrical distribution systems.
Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including PPE usage, permitting, and safe work practices.
- Participate in incident reporting, safety observations, and corrective action implementation.
- Lead by example in promoting a positive safety culture within the crew.
- Quality Assurance & Task Readiness
- Complete work in accordance with specifications, drawings, and client requirements.
- Identify non-conforming work and communicate issues to supervision for timely resolution.
- Assist in preparing work areas for inspections and client walkdowns.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to safety improvement initiatives and maintain a strong safety-first mindset.
- Participate in Safety, Quality, and Production meetings.
- Participate in tailboard meetings.
- Support the training and development of apprentices and new team members.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Red Seal certification in the powerline industry from an accredited trade school, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the powerline industry
- Strong understanding of construction and maintenance principles, methods, and procedures
- Commitment to working safely, with the ability to recognize hazards and apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate risks in both field and office environments
- Strong listening, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members, supervision, and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Willingness and ability to travel and work frequent overtime and weekend hours to meet project schedules and operational requirements
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments, including heavy lifting

- Per diem: $150/day

Pay: $46.00 - $53.00 per hour
