Position Purpose
The Director of Marketing and Communications develops and implements strategies that build awareness and understanding of Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF) among current and potential stakeholders and further the organization’s goal of creating an optimistic, confident brand for Greater Nebraska. This position is responsible for both internal and external communications that motivate individuals to act in ways that benefit Nebraska Community Foundation and advance its mission.
Examples of Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop an annual work plan and budget to advance the NCF brand in communications with all NCF target audiences.
- Write, edit and manage the design and distribution of printed and electronic materials produced on behalf of NCF and its affiliated funds.
- Lead website content management and enhancement for the purposes of marketing, branding, donor acquisition and retention, and services for affiliated fund leaders.
- Write and serve as primary contact for media releases; Build and maintain relationships with traditional and emerging media contacts.
- Supports CEO as primary NCF spokesperson.
- Oversee social media content strategy.
- Expand marketing opportunities by producing content for appropriate social media platforms.
- Serve as executive producer for video productions.
- Determine best advertising vehicles, develop materials and manage media buys.
- Work with NCF staff and the Board Communications Committee to develop Annual Celebration themes and program; Write annual banquet script.
- Submit nominations for various industry awards that raise the profile of NCF.
- Write articles for submission to local, regional, national and international publications.
- Develop promotional materials and e-newsletters for target audiences such as professional advisors and legacy donors.
- Devise strategies and communications that further NCF’s Five to Thrive campaign to key audiences.
- Assist management and other staff members with their internal communications when needed.
- Assist affiliated fund leaders with the production of their marketing and fundraising materials, such as press releases, brochures, newsletters and letter campaigns.
- Work with Communications Committee to train and coach board members in raising public awareness of NCF.
- Assist in writing proposals requesting funding from foundations and corporations and grant reports.
- Work with development team to provide education and training to affiliated fund leaders.
- Supervise NCF marketing/communications team.
Education, Skills and/or Experience
- Four-year college degree required with course work in the areas of English, communications, marketing, journalism or related areas.
- At least five years paid experience in public relations, community relations, communications, marketing or other related areas.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with NCF staff, board members, affiliated fund leaders and other constituents.
- Ability to work independently and to take initiative, as well as be a team player.
- Track record of high-quality writing, designing and producing publications within schedule and budget.
- Successful media relations.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and various social media platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of graphic design concepts and technology required.
- Skills in design software such as Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
- Ability to perform all duties with professionalism and demonstrated ethical values.
- Strong analytic, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
Other
- Nebraska Community Foundation is based in Lincoln, NE with remote employees located across the state. It is preferred this position is based in the home office in Lincoln, NE and will require some travel within Nebraska including occasional overnight travel.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
