Merlin Mold & MFG, INC., is a privately owned manufacturer that specializes in Plastic Injection. We utilize our design/engineering skills to assist an array of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) create and manufacture their specialty products. It doesn't stop there. Job Title: Machinist
Location: 7059 Harp Road
Reports to: The Tool Room Manager
Position Summary: A successful machinist at Merlin will spend their day collaborating with team leaders, reviewing daily work orders, and interpreting blueprints/sketches/CAD files. Once their task is fully understood, the machinist will then set up and configure the best machine to get the task done, whether that is a CNC machine or a manual machine. The machinist takes pride in their work quality and always checks their work throughout and after every process. A successful machinist will keep a tidy and organized workspace during and after their shift.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily meetings with leadership staff
- Follow work instructions, such a blueprints, sketches, CAD/CAM files
- Utilize CNC or Manual Machines by installing the correct cutting tools, securing workholding fixtures, and performing test runs.
- Monitor feeds and speeds, change worn-out tools and ensure the machine is following the program correctly
- Perform Quality Assurance checks using precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to confirm that parts are cut to exact specifications.
- Maintain a properly safe, organized, and clean workspace
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of relevant on the job training or post-secondary training.
- Must be able to interpret technical blueprints, models and specifications.
- Manual dexterity due to accuracy demands, sometimes within .0001 of an inch.
- Mechanical experience with operating milling machines, lathes, and grinders.
- Must understand metal working processes and precision measuring.
Physical Demands:
- Must stay in one area for extended periods of time and perform repetitious movements and strength to move heavy items.
