As a Medical Assistant, your role involves providing administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the medical office. Your responsibilities will include supporting doctors and patients through various tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Responsibilities:
- Answering incoming calls and scheduling appointments while verifying insurance details.
- Greeting patients and visitors.
- Checking in patients and verifying their personal and insurance information.
- Answering phone calls and addressing inquiries.
- Communicating with insurance providers to obtain authorizations if necessary.
- Updating and filing medical records and insurance reports in the EMR system.
- Assisting doctors with patients and in-office procedures
- Updating and maintaining patient records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Filing and organizing paperwork, including medical records and insurance documents.
- Handling billing-related tasks, such as collecting copays and forwarding charges to the billing department.
- Preparing electronic and paper charts before patient visits and filing charts accordingly.
- Collecting office copays and forwarding daily charges to the billing department.
- Producing and distributing correspondence such as memos, letters, faxes, and forms.
- Discharging patients and assisting with lab orders and prescriptions.
- Preparing and cleaning treatment rooms and medical instruments.
- Assisting patients with the check-out process.
- Scheduling follow-up appointments as needed.
- Keeping the front office area clean and organized.
- Ensuring that patient waiting areas are comfortable and well-maintained.
- Resolving patient concerns or directing them to the appropriate staff member.
Requirements:
- Working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Familiarity with HMO, EPO, PPO, and Medicare policies, along with basic knowledge of obtaining authorizations.
- Proven experience as a medical assistant in both front office and clinical settings.
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multitask, and prioritize work effectively.
- Social perceptiveness and a service-oriented approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software, preferably eClinicalWorks EMR and EPIC EMR.
- Spanish-speaking skills are preferred.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $41,600.00 per year
