JOB
The Planning and Permitting Coordinator coordinates the and supervises the permits and inspections, planning and development, and code compliance activities of the Development Services Department. The position also assists the Development Director with planning activities including the coordination and implementation of the development review process, long range planning activities, special studies, and staff support to the Town Council (and separate boards and commissions) for Planning & Zoning and Board of Adjustment related items.

Assist the Development Director with scheduling of development applications for appropriate meetings of the Town Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and any other meetings that may be required. Assist with the preparation of supporting information, such as agendas, presentations, and other forms of correspondence.

Coordinate activities and manage staff and consultants responsible for permits and inspections, planning and development, and code compliance.

Respond to inquiries regarding the process for permitting, inspections, and development, and respond to inquiries regarding zoning and development regulations such as setbacks, permitted uses, lot size, parking standards, etc.

Maintain current knowledge of the Town’s comprehensive plan and development regulations as well as state statutes regarding planning and development.

Coordinate and staff meetings of the development review committee and prepare agendas, supporting information, and minutes for such meetings.

Coordinate application and review process with the development review committee for all planning and development submittals including site plans, zoning cases, and plats.

Review such applications for compliance with zoning and development regulations.

Manage the health permit and inspection program for food establishments and public pools.

Maintain permit logs, files and records management programs; maintain records and plan review files and prepare periodic reports as required.

Serve as liaison with Town Secretary’s office for public information requests and assist the Town Secretary with secretary duties for Town Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and any other meetings that may be required.

Assist Building Official and Building Inspectors; provide administrative support services as needed; research issues and provide data on permit and plan issues and related subjects.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
