Duties
- Conduct annual inspections, routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on aircraft airframes, engines, and systems in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues using schematics, technical drawings, and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, ammeters, calipers, micrometers, and specialized industrial equipment.
- Perform repairs using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other specialized industrial tools to restore aircraft to optimal condition.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, CAD models (including CATIA and AutoCAD), and engineering troubleshooting documents to accurately diagnose issues.
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to document maintenance activities, parts usage, and compliance records efficiently.
- Fabricate or modify sheet metal components or structural parts using welding techniques and precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards such as AS9100 quality management system requirements and Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR).
- Assist in the calibration of precision measuring instruments such as ohmmeters and ammeters to maintain accuracy in diagnostics.
- Support heavy lifting operations with appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols for aircraft maintenance environments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on assembly projects or equipment repairs that require detailed interpretation of schematics or CAD models.
Qualifications
INSPECTION AUTHORIZATION is Preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in aircraft maintenance or aviation maintenance facility environments; military aviation experience is highly valued.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
- Familiarity with electrical systems repair including troubleshooting using multimeters (ohmmeters) and ammeters; experience with avionics systems is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings such as schematics or CAD files (including CATIA and AutoCAD) for fabrication or repair tasks.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations related to aircraft maintenance (FAR Part 43/145) and industry standards like AS9100.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication or structural modifications; welding skills are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis on complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Excellent communication skills for documenting work orders in CMMS software and collaborating with team members effectively.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols; familiarity with aerospace safety standards is preferred.
- Additional qualifications include experience with vehicle maintenance or industrial equipment repair; familiarity with military aviation systems is advantageous.
