Overview
The Direct Care Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate support and assistance to individuals in need of care, including seniors and people with disabilities. This position involves delivering personal care services, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients, and promoting their independence in a home or facility setting. Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health status.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the client’s living space to ensure a safe environment.
- Document care provided and report any concerns or changes in the client's condition to appropriate personnel.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including transferring them safely from one location to another.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including social workers and home health aides, to coordinate care plans.
Skills
- Experience in hospice care or home health settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration practices and protocols.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities and understanding their unique needs.
- Strong cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic living environment for clients.
- CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Empathy and patience are essential traits for providing compassionate care to clients.
- Understanding of social work principles can enhance the support provided to clients.
