At GI Partners of Illinois, we provide exceptional care to patients experiencing gastrointestinal issues and disorders. Our goal is to help them achieve the best possible health outcomes. Our Downers Grove, IL practice is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our providers in creating a positive patient experience.
Duties:
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations
- Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight
- Assist physicians and nurses during medical procedures and examinations
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and triage calls as necessary
- Process insurance forms and assist with billing and coding as needed
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless coordination of patient services
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is required
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare organization preferred
- 1-3 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Proficiency in basic medical procedures, including taking vital signs and administering medications
- An understanding of healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA and Medicare / Medicaid guidelines
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic health records, and medical billing software
- Self-motivated, self-disciplined, capable of managing daily schedules and activities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within demanding timeframes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external individuals
