Job Overview:
We are seeking a Data Management & Governance Analyst to support Talent (HR/People) data management and governance initiatives for a major entertainment company. This role will focus on documenting and governing critical HR data assets, maintaining data definitions and metadata, supporting data quality efforts, and helping ensure HR information is properly classified, secured, and managed throughout its lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in HR systems, data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging who enjoys partnering with both business and technical stakeholders to improve data transparency, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Technical Owners to support Talent (HR/People) data governance initiatives.
- Inventory and document HR data assets within the data catalog and business glossary, including data definitions, business rules, and source systems.
- Support data profiling activities and document data quality rules, thresholds, and monitoring requirements.
- Maintain metadata documentation and contribute to metadata management efforts, including data lineage and source-to-target documentation.
- Assist with ingestion and maintenance of metadata within enterprise data catalog platforms.
- Support data lifecycle management activities by documenting retention requirements, classifications, and governance controls.
- Document data classifications, sensitivity designations, and data sharing requirements to support privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 6+ years of experience in data management, data governance, business systems analysis, analytics, HR systems, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with HRIS/HCM platforms, preferably Workday.
- Strong understanding of data governance concepts including data definitions, business glossaries, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience documenting business metadata and lineage within formal data catalog solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience identifying data quality concerns and documenting governance processes and controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of HR data governance, privacy, risk, and compliance principles.
- Intermediate SQL skills and experience working with SQL-based query languages.
- Experience developing or supporting Workday reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and productivity tools.
- Experience with data governance and cataloging platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Information Analyzer, IGC, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of data architecture, metadata frameworks, and data lineage concepts.
- Exposure to governance considerations related to AI and machine learning initiatives.
Pay: $75.00 - $95.00 per hour
