Job Summary
Marina Electric is seeking an experienced Project Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our electrical and fire alarm projects. This is a remote role—most of the work is calls, coordination, scheduling, and paperwork—with occasional site visits to walk active jobs and verify progress in person. Because the role is remote, prior hands-on electrical experience is essential: this person needs to be able to picture what's happening on site from a phone call or a set of photos, ask the right questions, and know when something doesn't add up, without being there every day.
Day-to-Day Operations & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for daily calls and emails with general contractors, facilities staff, subcontractors, and field crews
- Field and resolve day-of issues in real time — schedule changes, site access conflicts, material needs, and RFIs
- Coordinate daily crew assignments and priorities across multiple concurrent job sites
Field Coordination & Site Oversight
- Conduct occasional site visits to verify progress, workmanship, and code compliance
- Review and track daily field reports and progress documentation submitted by crews
- Catch and resolve field-level problems (material shortages, access conflicts, inspection scheduling) remotely, before they affect the schedule
Scheduling & Project Tracking
- Maintain and update the master project schedule across all active sites; flag and communicate slippage as soon as it's identified
- Coordinate work around school-specific access windows and operating hours
- Track submittals, product substitutions, and RFI responses through to approval
Change Order & Scope Management
- Draft, track, and manage Scope Changes from identification through final approval
- Maintain organized, up-to-date tracking logs for all change orders and scope adjustments
- Coordinate pricing and scope clarification between the general contractor and ownership
Administrative & Reporting
- Prepare and distribute daily/weekly progress reports and work-completed summaries
- Maintain organized project files and tracking systems across all active jobs
- Support submittal packages, cover letters, and other technical documentation as needed
Qualifications
- Prior electrical and construction industry experience is required — candidates without a hands-on background will not be considered, regardless of general project management experience
- 3–5+ years of industry experience, including at least 2 years in a project management or field supervisory role
- Electrical construction experience strongly preferred; experience with fire alarm, low-voltage, or life-safety systems is a strong plus
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical/construction drawings, specs, and RFIs, and to assess field conditions remotely from photos, reports, and phone calls
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable being the primary point of contact for GCs, owners, and other representatives
- Proficient with Google Workspace / Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage several concurrent projects remotely
Work Environment
This is a remote position — most work is conducted by phone, email, and computer from a home office. Occasional travel to active project sites is required to walk jobs and meet in person with crews, the general contractor, or other representatives. Some early-morning or after-hours coordination may be required to align with access windows and crew schedules.
