What You'll Do
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient medical records.
- Review physician documentation to ensure accurate code assignment and MS-DRG reimbursement.
- Abstract clinical data while maintaining compliance with AHIMA, AAPC, and facility guidelines.
- Meet established productivity and quality standards.
- Collaborate with CDI specialists and providers to clarify documentation when needed.
Qualifications
- Required: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS (AHIMA) OR CIC (AAPC)
- Minimum of 3 years of recent inpatient coding experience preferred.
- Experience coding acute care inpatient records.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRGs, and current coding guidelines.
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other major EMR systems preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to coding quality.
