Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading the Company's finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, sound cash management, and construction-specific job cost accounting. The Controller serves as a strategic business partner to the President & CEO, providing financial leadership, supporting operational decision-making, and driving continuous improvement to maximize profitability and support the Company's long-term growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead all accounting and finance operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and prepare financial statements, dashboards, and executive reports.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial analyses to support strategic planning and business performance.
- Advise executive leadership on financial performance, operational improvements, acquisitions, and capital investment decisions.
Construction Accounting & Financial Operations
- Oversee project accounting, job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
- Direct Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, benefits administration, and cash management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective working capital management.
- Partner with Project Management and Operations to monitor project financial performance, identify risks, and improve profitability.
Controls, Compliance & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, labor laws, loan covenants, and other financial and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate external audits, tax filings, lender reporting, insurance, bonding, and grant compliance activities.
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Systems, Process Improvement & Leadership
- Lead the continuous improvement of financial systems, ERP platforms, reporting processes, automation, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop standardized financial reporting and job cost processes to support operational excellence.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and evaluate finance staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support acquisitions, due diligence, post-acquisition integration, financing initiatives, and other strategic projects that contribute to the Company's long-term growth.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
