Position Summary
River Oaks Elementary School seeks an innovative, student-centered, and collaborative Teacher Specialist to support the academic success of all students through instructional coaching, data-driven decision making, and implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). The Teacher Specialist serves as a member of the campus administrative team and works closely with teachers, instructional leaders, students, and families to strengthen teaching and learning across all core content areas.
This position is ideal for an experienced educator who is passionate about adult learning, instructional excellence, and developing highly effective teachers.
Primary ResponsibilitiesInstructional Coaching & Professional Development
- Provide job-embedded coaching and support to teachers in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends, instructional needs, and opportunities for growth.
- Facilitate data-driven planning conversations with teachers and grade-level teams.
- Model effective instructional practices and co-plan lessons aligned to district and state standards.
- Support teachers through observation, feedback, goal setting, and professional learning.
- Coordinate and facilitate professional development sessions aligned with campus goals.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Support
- Support implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Coach teachers in developing inquiry-based, student-centered learning experiences.
- Ensure instructional practices align with IB philosophy, learner profile attributes, and transdisciplinary learning.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop units of inquiry and strengthen authentic learning experiences.
- Assist with IB documentation, reflection, and continuous improvement efforts.
Leadership & Teacher Development
- Serve as a member of the campus leadership and administrative team.
- Conduct teacher appraisals and evaluations in accordance with district policies and guidelines.
- Participate in classroom observations, instructional rounds, and performance coaching cycles.
- Assist with campus improvement planning and implementation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of new teachers.
Student Support & Compliance
- Assist with LPAC (Language Proficiency Assessment Committee) processes and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the success of multilingual learners.
- Support MTSS and other campus intervention efforts through data analysis and progress monitoring.
- Help coordinate student support services and instructional interventions as needed.
Campus Leadership
- Support daily campus operations and initiatives.
- Assist administrators with supervision of students and staff activities.
- Foster a positive school culture focused on academic excellence, equity, and continuous improvement.
- Build productive relationships with families, staff, and community stakeholders.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate.
- Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated success in improving student achievement through data-driven instruction.
- Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Experience leading professional learning and coaching adult learners.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Experience in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school or PYP setting.
- Instructional coaching or leadership experience.
- Experience supporting multilingual learners and LPAC processes.
- Aspiring or certified school administrator.

- Strong instructional leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret student achievement data.
- Knowledge of effective teaching practices across elementary core subjects.
- Understanding of inquiry-based learning and the IB framework.
